These cupcakes are perfect for when Mum doesn't want a mess! And they cost less than 20p a cupcake to make.
You will need:
Pre bought cupcakes/ or you can make your own!
Pre bought buttercream icing in a squeezy tube, again, you can make your own.
Malteasers
Method.
1) First, pipe a swirl onto your cupcake with any type of icing.
2) next top with Malteasers, or you can put whatever sweet/ chocolate you like!
And...... we're done! I LOVE these cakes, they're so yummy and simple! I hope you enjoy making, and eating, these cakes as much as my brother, sisters and I did!
And that's about it!Make sure to come back next week I have a Mothers Day poem to share!
I thought I would start this new blog with a fave recipe of mine, me and my brother Jenson made these for the Kids Make and Bake Club last year. It's a simple recipe to follow although at a couple of steps you may need an adult to help you as it can get a bit fiddly.
To make 12 of these yummy treats you will need:
Plain Shortbread:
150g plain flour
½ tsp salt
50g caster sugar
125g unsalted butter at room temperature
Chocolate Shortbread:
125g plain flour
25g cocoa powder
½ tsp salt
50g caster sugar
125g unsalted butter at room temperature
Plus as many chocolate chips as you like depending how chocolatey you want it!
For the plain shortbread.
1)Mix together the salt, flour and sugar.
2)Next rub the butter into the flour. This is a very messy job!
3)Once combined, roll into a ball and put it in a bowl in the fridge.
For the chocolate shortbread.
1) Sieve together the cocoa powder and flour.
2) Add the sugar and salt.
3) Next rub the butter into the flour mix. Again this is a very very messy job!
4) Once combined, roll all into a ball and put it in a bowl in the fridge.
5) Leave both shortbread doughs to chill for around 30 minutes.
For The Twirls.
1) After 30 minutes get an adult to preheat the oven to Gas 4 and remove the doughs from the fridge.
2) Roll out both dough balls into similar rectangle shapes, both should be about the same size. Make sure you roll it onto some greaseproof paper this will make the rolling in the next step a lot easier.
3) Here's where you will need an adult, you need to get the chocolate dough on top of the plain dough. We found flipping it over quickly was the best option (but it took 2 of us to figure this out, sorry it isn't on the video, but Mum is my camera, man!)
4) Next scatter chocolate chips over the dough before rolling them, in a swiss roll type action.
5) Now cut your 'roll' into approximately 12 pieces and put them onto a greased baking tray in the oven for around 20-30 minutes, remember to get an adult to help you, you don't want to burn yourself.
6) Once golden remove from the oven and leave to cool down before sharing with your friends and family (or eat them all yourself!)
I live in Lincolnshire, with my Mum, Step Dad, 1 brother and 2 sisters. Nearly every half term I go to visit my Dad, Step Mum and 1 sister in Leicestershire.
Things I Love:
Drawing.
I like watching Fun 2 Draw on YouTube. MeiYu shows you how to draw lots of things like your favourite characters and foods with cute eyes in her tutorials.
Singing and Dancing.
I really like making dance routines up with my friends at school. I might share some with you as my first YouTube video, maybe, if I get brave enough.
Reading.
My favourite author is Jacqueline Wilson. My favourite books are The Bed and Breakfast Star, Girls In Tears and loads more. I like the book because they are like sneaking a look in someones diary. And they are like girls like me and my friends.
Going for hot chocolate and cake with Mum.
My favouritist thing to do at weekends. We don't get to very often as my Step Dad works and Mum is busy with my brothers and sisters. But when we do go its always really fun.
Sleepovers.
When I'm not at home (or my Dad's) I can be found at one of my bestest friends house having a sleepover.
YouTube.
I love You Tube, Mum says I'm an addict and go on far to much. My favourite YouTuber's are Zoella, Sprinkle Of Glitter, Pointless Blog, My Life As Eva, Alisha Marie and my Mums channel 3 Princesses and 1 Dude (a shamless plug there, that I got paid for in Haribo! Thanks Mum.)
Crafts.
If you pop over to Mum's You Tube channel using the link above, you will find some of my quick crafts. This is one of my favourite's.
So thats me! Come back next weekend for a brand new post!
